Raphael Robert TQ and Win with DEX410 at Euro Indoor Race 2011

Filed under: News — Stuart @ 4:01 pm

The prestigious Euro Indoor Race – EIR, was held over the weekend of 5th & 6th February 2011 at the ‘Black Country Arena’ complex in Charleroi, Belgium.  The track being an indoor ‘astro turf’ track which is very technical and fast. A strong field of international drivers turned up to race but in the 4WD class it was  Team Durango driver Raphael Robert from Belgium that took overall TQ in a closely fought battle with fellow Durango driver Sebastien Wartelle.  Both drivers were clear out in front of the field – taking perfect scores during qualifying (Best three of 8 qualifiers to count), with Raphaels faster time giving him the edge for TQ over Sebastien. A total of four Team Durango cars qualified for the A final.

The A final was spread over an astonishing 6-legs, again with the best three to count toward the winner.  Raphael took the top spot in rounds one and three, with a second place to back them up he took the win for Team Durango in a closely fought battle to the end. The rest of the Team Durango drivers finished the A final as follows – Sebastien Wartelle 4th, Michiels Eric  5th, Bennardo Gilles 7th.

Team Durango DEX410 wins the Asia EP Buggy Party

Filed under: News — Stuart @ 3:54 pm
John with his Trophy
The final round of the Asia EP Buggy Party (China Selection Race Series) took place at the AJ RC Arena, in Zhonshan, china.  Over 40 drivers turned up with some very good drivers in attendance.

In the 4WD class, Team Manager of Team Durango China, John Ho had already wrapped up the race championship after the 3rd round, and was aiming to end the series in a high note. As the race organiser John was doing the timing (AMB system) as well as racing in both classes, so it was a busy day for the team manager himself. Missing out by 7 seconds and qualifying 2ND in the A-main, it proved to be a hard fought battle between four racers. Although winning the final leg on a best two our of three format, together with a 3rd on the first leg, John will end up on 3rd position for this final race. There were nine 410’s racing with two of them making the A-main, by far the most popular 4WD on the day!

Although missing out on a clean sweep (with the first three races a perfect scores of winning all 3 of them, claiming one TQ and qualify 3 times in 2ND position), John had the following to say:
“It was a long year of racing and my first full year with my  DEX-410 2010 Spec. DEX410/410R proves to be the car to bit in numerous track condition, be it tough and lose or high grip indoor, the DEX-410 perform flawlessly. With the tank like reliability and a handling characteristic that suit my driving style so well, I was able to drive it at 120% day in, day out. Thank you very much and congratulate on Team Durango for creating such an amazing car. Looking forward to attend the grand final in Thailand.”

A DEX410R kit was given out to one of the luck racers in a prize draw along with other Team Durango goodies like the new pit mat.

John as the representative from China will be sponsored by Esteed Hobby to attend the grand final of the Asia EP Buggy Party  which will be held in Thailand in March .

Team Durango shut-out @ Worksop

Filed under: News — Stuart @ 12:30 pm

Team Durango drivers shut the door on the competition at the 4th round of the hugely popular Worksop Indoor Masters series, with the DEX410 taking the top three positions in 4WD.

Left to right:  Craig Collinson 3rd – Nathan Waters 1st – Adam Skelding 2nd

140+ drivers attended the 4th round of the Indoor Masters series at Worksop. In 4wd Danny McGee would take TQ in what was a close run qualifying with only he able to take two rounds. Craig Collinson and Nathan Waters took a round each to claim second and third on the grid respectively, whilst Adam Skelding took two seconds to grid up in 4th.

Right from the off in the final the front four pulled away from the rest of the field and it was soon apparent that the winner would come from these four, but who? With only a second covering the front 4 until about half race distance when a couple of errors crept in from Danny and Craig promoted Nathan and Adam up to first and second respectively. Danny and Craig were still not done though and put pressure on the front two, but another couple of errors soon left a gap to the front. Nathan began to pull away from Adam and extend his lead whilst Adam seemed to have 2nd covered, but a couple of errors whilst trying to make sure of 2nd soon had Craig on his back door leaving a very nervy race to the line.

Set-ups from the event can be founds here:

Testing the Big-Bores:
At this race Adam Skelding was running the new Big Bore shocks, whilst Nathan and Craig both stuck with the standard items to assess any set-up changes required when using the much anticipated Big Bores.

Testing Diff-Setup:
All the team tried a thinner diff set-up (5k front and 2k rear) for the low grip surface and found it to be beneficial on the unique Worksop flooring.

Jörn Neumann to race the DNX408

Filed under: News — Stuart @ 12:11 pm

Jörn Neumann has signed to race the DNX408 8th scale buggy to accompany the electric DEX410 and DEX210 prototype he’s already had great success with. Jorn is a multiple national champion in Germany, European champion and took 9th in the 2010 IFMAR 8th buggy worlds.

I am very happy to join Team Durango also in 8th scale. After testing the DNX408 at Revelation Raceway, I was really impressed how the DNX408 handles. I’m really looking forward to many great years with Team Durango.
