DESC410R clean sweep at 14th HotRod Hobbies Shootout!

Filed under: News — Stuart @ 6:24 pm

This past weekend saw the 14th annual Hot Rod Hobbies shootout in California, USA.  The event comprised a wrath of electric off road classes and Team Durango drivers Billy Fischer, Ryan Lutz and Travis Amezcua turned up to give the competition a run for their money in 2WD & 4WD modified buggy, and Pro-4 Short Course. hrh-sctrophy

Expert Pro-4 Short Course class there was no touching the dominance of the Team Durango DESC410R as it once again proved it was far-and-away the fastest and best handling 4WD Short Course out there.  Team Durango drivers put a lock-out on the podium, taking a fantastic 1-2-3 for the DESC410R amid some fierce competition.

Check out a video of Ryan Lutz in qualifying:

Billy Fischer won the opening leg, followed by Travis Amezcua in second for a Team Durango 1-2.  In A-main number two it was Ryan Lutz who snook past everyone and put in some consistent running to take the leg ahead of Amecua again 2nd and Billy Fischer coming home 3rd.  The battle was on between these three TD drivers and any one of them could take the win with a good result in the final leg.  Billy Fischer got out to an early lead but Ryan Lutz wasn’t giving up so soon and put in the fastest laps of anyone during the weekend on his way to catching up with Billy and battle for the win.  Billy held on for the win in leg 3 which let Ryan and Travis on equal points- though Ryans leg-2 win would see him podium in front of Travis.

Option parts used by the team:

TD230013- Front Sway Bar Set

TD330004- Suspension Holder Aluminum FF

TD330006- Suspension Holder Aluminum FR

TD330331- Titanium Nitride Front Shock Shaft (44mm) Gold (2pcs)

TD330332- Titanium Nitride Rear Shock Shaft (52mm) Gold (2pcs)

hrh-lutzinator 4WD buggy contained a truck load of talented drivers and the TD boys would have their work cut out for them to win here.  Ryan Lutz and Billy Fischer made the A-main in 4th and 5th respectively – and given the guys lack of electric running lately, this being Ryans second time running 4WD electric buggy! – things were more than acceptable.

The hilight of the finals was leg 1 as Ryan battled harder than he’s ever done before to catch and pass former multiple world champion Ryan Cavalieri for a dramatic win.  Ryan finished second overall in 4WD buggy and is looking forward to racing more of the class now he’s found his feet!

Kyle McBride & DNX408 dominate prestigious FEMCA Championships

Filed under: News — Stuart @ 10:31 am

Kyle McBride proved the Team Durango DNX408 can mix it up with, and beat,  some of the best this past weekend with a total domination of the prestigious FEMCA 1/8th Off Road Championships in Selangor, Malaysia.  Kyle dominated the meeting taking the qualifiers to grab the TQ and go pole on the grid for the hour long final.

Three former world champions lined up behind Kyle for the final but  it didn’t phase the young Team Durango driver as Kyle lead from start to finish and won by two laps over former world champion Billy Easton.

Jörn Neumann wins Belgian GP 2011

Filed under: News — Stuart @ 11:18 am

The annual Belgium GP for 10th scale buggies took place this past weekend – 1st, 2nd & 3rd July at the track at Kampenhout that has played host to the event since its origins in 1989. Team Durango’s Jörn Neumann took the opening round of 4WD qualifying and looked good throughout the day to sit second on the grid for the 3-leg A final. After missing out on the TQ, Jörn was determined not to lose out in the finals and was driving his DEX410 with a mix of agression and precise control in his chase for the #1 spot. In both legs 1 & 2 Jörn looked the fastest driver and proved it as he pushed past the reigning European Champion to take the lead and despite pressure he was uncatchable on his way to the two leg wins and overall victory with one final still left to run.

Jörn made changes to his car from the outset to cope with the high traction at Kampenhout which included running anti-roll bars front and rear among other changes. Check out his setup sheet online HERE

Lutzinator takes 4WD SC at JConcepts Indoor RD2

Filed under: News — Stuart @ 1:16 pm

Ryan Lutz took the 4WD Open Short Course class win this past weekend at the JConcepts Indoor National RD2 race held at the Outback Raceway in Chico, California.  Ryan’s DESC410R was on fire and he blitzed qualifying by taking all 4 rounds to go first on the grid for the A-Main.  The 8 minute main meant Ryan had to stay cool to make the time – putting in consistently fast laps he eventually finished around a lap and a half in front of 2nd place and proved that the DESC410R is the only car to have in this class of racing – nothing else comes close.

Ryan took his DEX410 buggy out for its first weekend – Ryan normally racing only 8th buggy & Short Course.  Ryan had a steep learning curve with 10th electric but managed to get things together and make the main.  A battle for the lead for the last 3 minutes of the epic 10-minute main was cut short with only 30 seconds to go when the motor wire came off and shorted out.  Ryan received lots of help from Tekin’s Randy Pike who’s been pushing the TD cars with his vast knowlege and experience and with Randys help Ryan is expecting a lot more from the HotRod Shootout this coming weekend. have a couple of nice videos of Ryan in action – check them out here or at

Carson Wernimont takes SDRC Raceway grand opening for TD

Filed under: News — Stuart @ 1:14 pm

The grand opening of the SDRC Raceway in Sandiego California took place on the 25th June 2011 and attracted over 200 entries with 24 heats – so there was plenty of competitive racing going on. Carson Wernimont continued his winning ways with the DESC410R 4WD Short Course truck by destroying the opposition – racing against the latest 4WD SC’s from Losi and Associated, Carson won by over a lap after TQ’ing with ease.

Another TQ and win in 4WD buggy with the Team Durango DEX410 sealed up a neat weekend for Carson and Team Durango.
