2WD 10th Off Road EFRA Euros 2011

Filed under: News — Stuart @ 6:03 pm

The 2011 EFRA European Championships kicked off this week in Pau, Southern France.  The event brings together the top 10th off road racers in Europe to compete for bragging rights.  The new Team Durango 2WD DEX210 buggy was in attendance with 3 drivers in total –  Jorn Neumann, Hupo Honigl and Martin Kriel.

kreil Martin Kreil’s DEX210

Jorn lead the charge in qualifying, taking 3rd in the opening two rounds before TQ’ing the 3rd and final round on day one of qualifying.  When the final two rounds of qualifying were over and done, all three DEX210’s in attendance had made it in to the A Final – with Jorn Neumann sat poised in 3rd, Hupo just behind in 5th and Martin Kreil 9th. The DEX210 is the most adjustable 2WD ever and the team were all running their cars in the rear-motor configuration with a 3-gear setup inside the gearbox on the loose dirt at Pau.

In leg one, Hupo closed in on Cragg for 2nd as the time wound down but couldn’t quite make up the distance as he finished 3rd with Jorn close behind for 4th and Martin Kreil in 9th.  The final results didn’t live up to the teams hopes. with no podium positions this time,  but with such a new car that’s still being developed and refined the team were very excited about the result and having all the cars in the main.

Ryan Lutz wins with DNX408 & DESC410R @ The Tiltyard

Filed under: News — Stuart @ 3:37 pm

The 14th round of the US Pro Series took place this last weekend at the Tiltyard in Dayton, Virginia USA. 1/8th buggy was the main class with Short Course as a support class. In Short Course, Ryan Lutz took the overall TQ with a fairly healthy domination of all four rounds with his DESC410R. The final unfortunately got rained off so Ryan took the win from qualifying.

After 3 rounds of qualifying to dominate with his DNX408 in pro buggy – the 4th and final qualifier saw Ryan put on a show for the crowds with plenty of sliding and airiel ‘stunts’, just because he could! In the final Ryan rebuilt his clutch but something was wrong and he couldn’t get the buggy moving – Ryan missed the warmup and had to start from the pitlane but thankfully the kind organisers at the Tiltyard waited a few minutes until Ryan had his car ready. With no warmup Ryan was still right on it as he pulled out a lap on the rest which he managed to hold to the line for another win.

You can try out Ryan’s setups from this race by visiting the TD setup area ‘In The Pits’  – or see the direct links to Ryan’s winning setups below:

The best pass ever?

Filed under: News — Stuart @ 3:15 pm

smallworldslogoAfter nearly taking the opening leg of the 2011 IFMAR 10th Off Road 4WD World Championships, extending out a comfortable lead before a blown motor destroyed his run – Jörn Neumann made good in the final leg to secure 2nd overall to become 2011 IFMAR Vice Champion with one of the most stunning passes we’ve ever seen.
Jorn locked onto the rear of Ryan Maifield’s car for the full 5 minutes and waited for his chance to strike. Coming into the final chicane and step-up before the finish line Jörn gave it everything he had, clipping one track marker after another on the very edge of control as he shot past a bewildered Maifield on the inside before sliding out wide and over the line for the win.
It was a great performance from Jörn and whilst he was so close to taking the win this time, we’re sure he’ll take a world title one day.

Team Durango @ the 1/8th European Championships

Filed under: News — Stuart @ 1:29 pm

The 2011 1/8th buggy European Championships took place in Sand, Germany from the 1st to the 6th of August. The event brings together the top drivers from around Europe to compete on this technical track.

elliotsca2r Team Durango had 2 cars in the final with Jorn Neumann bumping from 42nd to the main, proving the strength and reliability of his car.  Non-Durango failures / problems in the final when the pair were running in 3rd and 4th stopped Jörn and Elliott from making a real impact early on.

The team were trying some new vented shock caps on the DNX408 which use a foam insert along with the diaphragm – giving more enhanced consistency.  These will be available very soon – keep tuned to the Team Durango website for news!

Team Durango – 2011 ROAR Nationals

Filed under: News — Stuart @ 9:50 am

The 2011 Roar Nationals took place last week over at Nor-Cal Hobbies in Union City, California.  Five days of practice, qualifying and racing took place on the all-dirt supercross-style layout and Team Durango were there in force to compete in 4WD buggy, 4WD short course and 2WD buggy with the prototype DEX210.   The exciting new 2WD DEX210 pre-production prototype was on show at the event  and gained plenty of interest – sadly the team couldn’t compete with the new car as some parts weren’t available in time for the event and the hand-built prototype cars that were used at the World Championships were run instead.

In 4WD modified buggy, Team Durango’s Travis Amezcua put in a storming run to take TQ in the 4th qualifier which was enough to sit him 4th overall for the A Main with his DEX410.  Billy Fisher and Carson Wernimont finished strong to take their DEX410’s to the A-Main giving Team Durango three of the top ten spots.

img_0168 4WD Short Course saw Team Durango driver Ryan Lutz take his DESC410R to an overall TQ and 1st on the grid for the A-main – another huge acheivement for the nitro die-hard ‘lutzinator’ as he proves he’s got the speed even if he lacks the electric racing knowlege.

In the finals Ryan missed out on the win and had to settle for 2nd overall with Travis closing out the podium with his DESC410R in 3rd. Billy Fischer and Carson Wernimont also made the main, giving Team Durango 4 trucks in the top 10!

No wins for Team Durango this year at the ROAR nationals, but some very promising results against some of the best drivers in the world meant there was plenty to take away from the event.

Team drivers Travis Amezcua and Ryan Lutz take their DESC410R’s to a 1-2 in leg one of the 4WD Short Course A-Main.

Team drivers were running the following option parts on the DESC410R:

Machine Cut Diff Gear –  TD310145
Rear Bumper Set – TD320141
Conversion Set For Centre Slipper-Diff  – TD210031
