Filed under: News — Stuart @ 11:52 pm

The 15th anual ‘Hotrod Shootout’ kicked off recently and Team Durango drivers Jörn, Hupo, Carson and Travis were there to show their skills and try their best to take home a few trophies.

Wednesday kicked off the event with open practice, which was followed by more of the same on Thursday before the qualifying kicked off. In 4WD buggy and Pro4 Short Course Jörn Neumann was on top form – taking the TQ in both these classes. And with a total of four Team Durango drivers in each main for these classes – the qualifying order was as follows:

Qualifying 4wd Buggy: 1st Jörn, 3rd Travis, 5th Hupo and 8th Carson

Jörn Neumann: My car felt good right from the start, I changed to heavier shock oil, because of the hot outside conditions. This made my car better, still a little bit to nervous. During practice and the 1st qualifier I used JConcepts tires, after that I switched to Losi tires. All other where using them as well. I could TQ the next 3 Rounds and was the overall TQ. In A1 I made an early mistakes which cost me a few seconds, but I could recover to 2nd. In A2 I had a close battle with Maifield the entire race, finnished 1st. Both had a 1st and 2nd, so A3 should decide everything, again I made an early mistake which put me from 1st to 10th. Then the gap was to much. Overall finnished 2nd, 1st Maifield, 3rd Tebo

Hupo Hönigl: 4wd finals were the ones where was the most action – Jörn always led from the start, but a couple of early mistakes in A1 and A3 cost him the overall win; Travis had some stong finals, but a stripped out spur gear in A3 cost him the podium, so he finished 4th; Carson had some good finals and finished 5th overall. My personal 4wd finals went anything other than good – I had really bad luck and finished in a dissapointing 7th place. In 2wd buggy, my qualifying got better and better – in the final round I managed a 4th for the round, which put me on the 6th spot for the A main; 4wd finals were the ones where was the most action – Jörn always led from the start, but a couple of early mistakes in A1 and A3 cost him the overall win; Travis had some stong finals, but a stripped out spur gear in A3 cost him the podium, so he finished 4th; Carson had some good finals and finished 5th overall.
