Want To Race For Team Durango? – What It Takes To Be Part Of The Team

oop_2852

What does it really take to race for Team Durango? This is a question that may cross the minds of many racers and RC enthusiasts as they learn more about the winning ways of the brand that is ‘Serious About Racing’. The products we create are often the focus of racers discussions when they are sharing their passion for what Team Durango represent. In this article, we will spend a short but valuable time looking at what Team Durango consider to be THE most important element of who we are and what we create, the people behind the brand.

Our dedicated team of designers, administration staff, technical assistants, conceptual artists, motor sport engineers, project managers and graphics experts are the very heart beat of Team Durango. They contribute hundreds of hours a month to the constant development of our products, whilst also nurturing and growing the ethos of our brand, every member of our staff team understands why Team Durango is ‘Serious About Racing’.

This constant hum of professional activity is always driving towards one definitive moment. The sound of the race control buzzer. The whoosh of the electric motors or the smell of the nitro fuel. Or as it is often called in full scale motor sport racing ‘Go Time’.

At this point, Team Durango put all our hours of hard work and dedication, all our meetings and stock takes, all our conference calls and concept drawings, all our production assessments and sample testing, into the hands of a select few. Team Durango team drivers are the members of our team who share with the world what Team Durango means to us.

From Yorkshire to Nevada, from Sydney to Hamamatsu, Team Durango team drivers compete in a wide selection of racing classes against some of the worlds fastest RC drivers, week in week out.

Our team drivers are not just dedicated RC racers. Every member of our team is also directly involved with the testing and progressive development of every single Team Durango product. In addition, every driver provides a fundamental link between our engineering staff, designers and advertising agents. This link is a tangible communication of information. Straight from the heat of the racing action to the design table. If a team driver feels a product needs a revision, they can communicate with our research and development staff whilst also consulting with our brand managers and sales teams. Team Durango racers are a critical part of our team, on the track and beyond.

Becoming a member of the Team Durango team is not just about being fast on the track, although our pro drivers are definitely among the fastest in the world across all classes. Each team member possesses a wide selection of very unique skills that they offer to the rest of the team to assist with our collective development. We are fortunate enough to have many of our team drivers who posses skills in areas of engineering, design, journalism, photography, illustration, business management, website design and many other realms. This allows Team Durango to not just field the strongest racing teams for the events we choose to compete in, but also have access to a diverse range of professional skills away from the track. Racing is not just our passion, it is our profession.

This multi-skilled staff philosophy operates in much the same way as any professional racing manufacturer, regardless of the scale of vehicles they produce. A quick glance across the offices of our UK headquarters would give you a very interesting picture. Our whole team is focused on our products being perfectly equipped for the moment when the racing buzzer sounds. We don’t just make RC cars, we design them from the ground up.

The unique thing that always reminds us of our roots within the world of RC motor sport is when we are in the pits alongside you, our fans. Our team drivers are always welcoming of any comments, suggestions and positive experiences that you choose to share with them. Next time you see a racer wearing the Team Durango livery, at the track or otherwise, stop and say hello. We are always really happy to meet fans of our products, and we are always here to help with any advice or guidance you may need.

Stay tuned for more interesting information that will allow you to learn more about why Team Durango is ‘Serious About Racing’.

Team Durango Clean Sweep At Broxtowe – Series Wins In All Classes

broxtowesnowmanfinalround

The hotly contested Broxtowe Snowman Winter series came to a truly ‘Team Durango’ conclusion last weekend with our dedicated team drivers winning all three classes across this six round series. Team Durango closed their hard winter race campaign by placing the following overall series results:

2WD

1st Ian Mellish – DEX210

2nd Richard Yeo – DEX210

4th James Ambrose – DEX210

4WD

1st Adam Skelding – DEX410v3

2nd Dan Austin – DEX410v3

3rd Anthony Potter – DEX410v3

4th Andy Wesson – DEX410v3

2WD Short Course

1st Jon Brook – DESC210R

The sixth round of this very popular winter race series was by no means a ‘walk in the park’ for the likes of James Ambrose, Andy Wesson and Dan Austin, who all represent Team Durango in the UK domestic off-road scene. Competition is always ferocious at Broxtowe. Many UK top off-road stars regularly grace the drivers stand at this all Astroturf track in Nottinghamshire. UK team manager Adam Skelding reported that he was extremely satisfied with how his team mates performed during this weather blighted series of races. Many of the previous rounds were raced during heavy snow fall and icy conditions.

The DEX210, DEX410v3 and DESC210R platforms have proven to be very consistent during the difficult conditions that the snowman series has presented. All of our team drivers have once again shown dedication and commitment that has assisted them in achieving a collection of very strong results. As the UK Team Durango drivers begin preparations for their 2013 summer campaigns, we are very confident that our winter efforts will allow us an even stronger starting point as we move towards the warmer months.

Team Durango – DEX210 & DEX410V3 Attack The Snow

Team Durango team drivers were out in force at last weekend’s 4th round of the aptly named ‘Snowman Series’ at Broxtowe’s exciting race venue near Nottingham in the U.K.

The cold and bleak conditions didn’t deter Team Durango U.K Team Manager Adam Skelding. Neither did it drain the enthusiasm from his Team Durango team mates James Ambrose, Ian Mellish, Dan Austin and Andy Wesson who also braved the snow and ice covered conditions to represent Team Durango at this very popular venue.

With the temperature hovering around freezing point, the Team Durango drivers knew that tyre choice was going to be critical when it came to finding the correct amount of grip in the slippery conditions. James Ambrose returned with a 4th in round one and repeated this position in round two with his DEX210 buggy. Ian Mellish took 2nd place in round two with a technically excellent drive in the difficult conditions. Adam Skelding was very happy with his first round of 4WD qualifying, with his DEX410V3 matched with dBoots Multibyte tyres in B compound.

As the slippery Broxtowe track began to thaw with the winter sun making a brief appearance during rounds 3 and 4, Adam pushed his DEX410V3 to an overall TQ position and commented that the car was handling the tracks slippery areas very well teamed with his choice of dBoots tyre. James Ambrose returned with yet another 4th in round with his DEX210 that was also soaking up the winter conditions and performing extremely well against the fast competition that Broxtowe has to offer.

Adam also had a strong success during the day by switching his tyre choice to dBoots Nanobytes in 4WD that created an instant increase in grip for his buggy. All attending drivers agreed that the diverse track conditions were easily attacked by using the great range of tyres that dBoots supply.

With several other drivers running both DEX210’s and DEX410V3 cars, the Broxtowe meeting was drawn to a suitable Team Durango crescendo when Ian Mellish drove a wonderful 2WD A final to take the win and cement his points lead across this closely competed series.

Team Durango drivers lead both classes in the series, with Ian Mellish in 2WD and Adam Skelding in 4wd. James Ambrose currently lies 2nd in 2WD with Dan Austin 3rd in 4WD, round 3 winner Andy Wesson still has some rounds to complete but has strong points from his two meetings so far.

Well done to all Team Durango drivers who attended Broxtowe during this cold winter race meeting. Team Durango’s 2WD and 4WD vehicles, teamed with dBoots tyres, are proving that cold conditions will not stop their rise to podium positions every week at a race venue near you.
