 Learn How To Get The Most From Droop Settings

As the first part of an exciting new series of Team Durango tuning articles, Travis Amezcua shares a nice guide on how the Droop travel on the newly launched vehicle range can help you access custom set-up configurations.

We hand over to Travis for an exciting look on the facts that surround adjusting your Droop Screw settings.

This week I will cover the effects of Droop Travel. Down stops limit how far the suspension arms travel downward.

Travel, or Droop, is a very sensitive adjustment configuration you can make on your vehicle. It also a very quickly accessed by turning small Screws positioned in your lower Suspension Arms. This can be adjusted easily in pit lane using a 2mm Hex driver. The effects may change with the type of track and/or the level of grip you encounter.

Turning your Droop Screws clockwise decreases droop, counter clockwise increases the amount of droop.

I find the best was to measure the amount of droop you are running is with a pair of digital Calipers. I measure the distance from the center of the top Shock Mount Screw to the center of the bottom Shock Screw. Making sure each side of the vehicle is equal length.

More Droop Travel:

This makes the car more responsive but less stable. Typically better on bumpy tracks or on tracks with slower corners. This allows the chassis to transfer more weight back under acceleration or transfer the weight forward under braking.

Less Droop Travel:

This makes the car more stable and is typically better on smooth tracks. This stops the chassis from transferring to much weight back under acceleration or transferring too much to the front during braking.

1. It will increases rear traction on corner exit allowing more weight transfer

2. Land better on big jumps

3. Better on bumpy tracks

Less front Travel:

1. Increase on power steering when accelerating

2. More responsive when changing direction

3. Better on smooth tracks

Having such fast access to this easy tuning option will allow you to make super-fine adjustments in seconds. Roll into the pit lane and have your car back on the track quickly. This will encourage you to continue tuning the car during the action of each race meeting, meaning you can gain an even greater advantage against the competition.
